Via a server, the data feed is read directly from a database and made available to various clients, such as the Google Merchant Center, who read this data. Data feeds are used to transfer larger data sets between servers and clients. This is, for example, also a prerequisite for Google Shopping ads, where Google finds out and reads relevant information about your products.
